Kelly Jenkins, our beautiful mother, wife, sister, and loving friend, was unexpectedly called home on March 19th, 2017 in Kaysville, Utah.
Kelly was born on October 30, 1966 in Morton, Illinois. She attended Morton High School, where she was voted "Class Clown" before graduating in 1984. After graduation, Kelly accompanied her friend on a trip to Utah. She immediately fell in love with the area & decided she wanted to make it her new home. After settling into Utah, she enrolled in Salt Lake Community College and graduated with a degree in Surgical Technology in 1987. She began working as a scrub tech at LDS Hospital, and was soon able to buy herself her dream car – a brand new dark blue '89 Mustang.
Convinced that life couldn't possibly get any better, Kelly light-heartedly agreed to be set up on a blind date. She swore that it was love at first sight when Curtis Jenkins picked her up for that date – but only through the power of true love was she able to forgive him for his comments about her Mustang being "too slow". Curtis and Kelly were married in the Salt Lake City temple on December 1, 1990, and together they had four children: Travis, Taylor, Karli, and Sam.
Kelly enjoyed simplicity, she was good-natured, easy-going, and had a smile that lit up the room. She was a talented artist and photographer, and she also enjoyed just hanging out with the boys, going camping, fishing, and riding dirt bikes. Kelly was an easy person to love, she had a beautiful soul and a knack for making people feel like they had known her forever.
Kelly's greatest source of joy was her four children, who will miss her support and warm laughter more than words can express. She will also be sorely missed by her furbabies: Charlie, Cooper, Zoe, & Festus. But we are at peace knowing that she is being cared for by some of Heaven's brightest angels until we can be reunited with her again.
Please join us on Saturday March 25, 2017 for a celebration of Kelly's life at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 201 South 600 East, Kaysville, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:00-10:30am, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am.
Please feel free to wear Kelly's favorite color – yellow, in her honor.
