Kenneth Dee Clyde

October 16, 1932 — March 12, 2018

Kenneth “Dee” Clyde passed away on March 12, 2018 in his West Bountiful home surrounded by his loved ones. He was 85 years old.

Dee was a hard-working, devoted family man who was born on October 16, 1932 in Heber City, Utah to John Ellis Clyde and Emma Cummings Clyde. He grew up in a large family in Heber City where he learned to love the outdoors, which involved riding horses, hunting, and fishing. He graduated from Wasatch High School.

After graduation from high school, Dee enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a service to his country during the Korean War. He always spoke very fondly of the Marine Corps, and he felt it a great honor to serve his country.

When he returned stateside, Dee settled in Rock Springs, Wyoming, working various jobs in construction. At that time, this handsome, dark-eyed man, met and fell in love with Eileen T. Blacker. The two were married on July 22, 1960 and raised three children, a step-son, a son, and a daughter, in West Bountiful, Utah.

Dee was a hard-working man who devoted his life to providing for his family as he worked in pipeline construction as a member of Operating Engineers Local 3 for over 30 years. He was also an avid gardener, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. Dee loved to have fun, laugh, and tease all of his grandchildren. He was a loyal and protective man to those that he loved the most, including his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Dee is survived by his loving wife, Eileen T. Clyde, his son, Kenneth Clyde and wife, Lorri, West Bountiful, Utah; his daughter, Cynthia and husband, Kimm Jones, Jesup, Georgia; sister, Donnette Hewiston, North Salt Lake, Utah; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. His parents, sister, Colleen Mantyla, and brother, John Clyde, and step-son, Frank Sellers, preceded him in death.

A private celebration of Dee’s life will be held for immediate family members at a later date.
