Kenneth Gordon Driggs

March 8, 1941 — February 22, 2023

Morgan, Utah

Kenneth Gordon Driggs passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in Mountain Green, Utah, on February 22, 2023, at the age of 81. The youngest of 6 children, he was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 8, 1941, to Melvin and Dora Driggs.

Ken’s youth was spent in the Hayward, California area. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he dutifully served his country for 3 years. He then served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ in the Southwest British Mission.

Years after meeting her in high school, Ken married his eternal sweetheart, Carol Ann Cox, on March 18, 1972, in the Oakland Temple. Without question, his dear wife and 6 children and many grandchildren were the light of his life and his pride and joy. He was a devoted, loving, and supportive husband and father and worked hard to provide for his family, first in the San Francisco Bay Area and then in various parts of Utah including Orangeville, Farmington, and Bountiful.

Ken was quiet, contemplative, and observant. His rich, deep voice was a source of soothing and calm to many. He was a kind soul who treated everyone with whom he came in contact with kindness and respect. His mind was quick and full of information on a myriad of topics, and he was always willing to have a good, long conversation wherein one would be witness to his intelligence and critical thinking skills. He frequently freely shared his knowledge of electrical engineering not only as an employee and sought-after instructor, but also with friends, neighbors, and family. He was quick to help when the electricity shorted out, went off, or needed to be wired in. And when anyone – family, friend, or acquaintance - needed help of any kind, whether it was of a physical, emotional, or spiritual nature, Ken was always happy to assist and made himself readily available to others.

Ken and Carol shared a love of music and hearing them sing together was a wonderful, sweet treat. Ken happily used and shared his musical talents throughout his life, including in helping to write much of the music for the original Castle Valley Pageant while they resided in Orangeville, Utah.

Ken had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a good pun. He often joked about his own short stature and shiny, smooth scalp when in response to an untruth, he would often reply, “Yes, and I’m tall and have hair.” He could find the humor in almost any situation and brightened many a room with a twinkle in his eye, a big smile, and a deep, hearty laugh.

In contradiction to his physical stature, Ken was a spiritual powerhouse with a firm and unshakeable testimony of his Savior Jesus Christ and the gospel. His family often called on him in times of spiritual need, knowing that he was always ready and willing to offer guidance, help, and support. Ken faithfully served in many church callings throughout the years, including as a beloved bishop, scout leader, and priesthood quorum instructor. Serving others in any capacity was a source of true joy in his life.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Conrad, Robert, and Gary. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, their six children and their spouses: Gregg Driggs (Becky), Charlyn Tonks (Kenny), Julie Simkins (Willard), David Driggs (Kathy), Katie Barraclough (Ben), and Max Driggs (Suzie), 24 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, his sister Lorraine Turner, his brother Richard Driggs (Yvonne).
