Kenneth Walter Julien passed away peacefully on August 2, 2009 in Layton, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 11, 1916. He was the son of Walter and Gertrude Meibos Julien. He loved life, friends, service, music and family. Ken was the oldest of 3 children. Ken was married to his eternal companion, LaRue for 66 years and she preceded him in death by 2 years. Ken was a member of the CCC camps and later a pilot and instructor during World War II in the Army Air Corp. He graduated from the University of Utah and was an avid Ute fan and Jazz fan and loved sports. He graduated from a Zenkes School of Baking in Chicago after graduating from the U of U. He blessed his neighbors and family with homemade bread for many years. He deeply loved his wife, family and neighbors. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission with his wife LaRue, was in several bishoprics, and he worked with the young men and Special Needs Primary. He is survived by his two boys Stephen Betty of Cedar City, Utah; and Craig Linda of Layton, Utah; his sister Lois and ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his wife, LaRue Mangum his parents and his sister, Bernice. The family wishes to thank the care givers at Rocky Mountain Care and his physicians – James Rees MD and Scott West MD for their kind care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Oak Hills Chapel, 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may call Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Wednesday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
