Kenneth Lee Ericksen

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Kenneth Lee Ericksen, passed away on September 21, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. We know there was a joyous and sweet reunion with his father and mother at that same time.

Lee was born on August 17, 1943 in Compton, CA to Kenneth Thomas and Ruth LaVern Ericksen. He grew up in San Diego, CA and spent his summers in Brigham City, UT. He graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego in 1961. He faithfully served a 2 ½ year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the North German mission from 1962 to 1965. Lee served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1971.

While serving in a remote area of North East Wyoming, Lee found the love of his life, Gloria Carol Hogen. Lee and Gloria were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on June 4, 1968. They spent the early years of their marriage in Box Elder County before finally landing in the Kaysville / Layton area.

Lee studied at Weber State College, in Ogden, Utah where he earned a degree in accounting. He worked in the banking industry until 1985. After a brief period of being employed at various other jobs, he worked for the State of Utah, Department of Finance until he retired in 2012. Lee was a perfectionist and mastered many hobbies. Lee loved to decorate and create unique birthday cakes. His children and grandchildren will always cherish their memories of some of his special creations. Lee is also known for his incredible gingerbread houses. (If you know, you know.) He also loved road trips with family and friends and particularly enjoyed the Black Hills of South Dakota, Jackson Hole and Durango. There was never a dull moment when Lee was around with his sense of humor and quick wit.

Lee was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent his life in generous service to his church and those around him. Much of his service was for those beyond the veil as he had a deep love and devotion to genealogy.

Lee is survived by his cherished wife, Gloria and his children Alan & Amy Ericksen, Daniel & Tasche Ulrich, Tom & Stacey Ericksen, Brian & Kara Fowers and Luke & Kirsche Brown. He is adored by 16 grandchildren and 6 great-children. He will also be missed by his brother and sisters Carol & Buzz Sullenger, David & Marilyn Ericksen and Diane Thomas; brothers-in-law Dale & Judy Hogen, Oliver & Paulette Hogen and Sam Hogen along with numerous nieces and nephews.

We are grateful for the loving care he received from Jennifer & Stephanie at Fresenius Kidney Care and Carli & Whitney from Atlas Home Health as he neared the end of his journey. We take comfort in knowing this isn’t the end but the start of a new chapter in the life of this amazing man.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Russon Mortuary and Crematory, 1941 N. Main Street, Farmington, UT, at 11:00 a.m.  Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Mortuary and Crematory and also 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.  The services will be streamed on the Russon Mortuary and Crematory Facebook page.  It will also be on the bottom of this obituary.
