Kenneth Phillip Kotter

December 4, 1945 — February 18, 2020

Kenneth Phillip Kotter (Dad-Ken) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 4, 1945 to Helen Bleak Kotter and Phil Earl Kotter. Ken passed away on February 18th, 2020, after graciously fighting a long and frustrating battle with Parkinson’s disease. Surrounded by loving friends, Ken passed peacefully as he slept and went on to meet his loved ones on the other side of the veil.

Ken’s family would like to thank the kind staff at Life Care Center of Bountiful, where he was loved and adored by all who met him over the last couple of years. Ken was very active in the community in which he lived. He was always a leader and an example of charity to all he met. Ken was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served most recently as the Elders Quorum President.

Ken made people smile each and every day with his kind words and sharp wit. Everyone who served and cared for Ken in his final days continues to share how he always brightened their days. As his family, we too can remember this quality in Dad.

Dad loved to bake, and he was great at it. Whether it was Sunday’s spaghetti dinner with accompanying chocolate chip cookies or brownies, orange cookies, or a warm loaf of honey wheat bread, Dad was always an amazing treat maker and loved to eat treats as well!  He was known to, quite frequently, enjoy an eclair from Dick’s Market. Dad loved his family and the kitchen. It was always fun to bake with him.

Ken was preceded in death by his daughter Heather May Kotter (1973), brother Steven Lee Kotter (1988), mother Helen Bleak Kotter (2007), and father Phil Earl Kotter (2013), and stepfather Milo Maurice Cazier (2016).

Ken is survived by his step-mother Dorothy Kotter; the mother of his children Darlene Woolsey Bairett, children Kristy and Brian Leffler-Vermont, Shawnalee Riley-Utah, Paul and Melissa Kotter-Utah, Joseph Kotter-Utah, Daniel and Andrea Kotter-Utah, Sarah and Wayne Jolley-Virginia, Alisha and Todd Parry-Nevada, Rachael Kotter-Utah; mother of his children Loa Patten Kotter, stepchildren Ryan and Kristy Patten-Kansas, Katie Patten-Utah, and children Jessie and Drake Nelson-Utah.  He is also survived by his brother Scott Kotter and will be lovingly remembered by 29 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 21st, 2020 at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
