Bountiful, UT – We miss you, Kenny-Babe, Dad, Poppa. Your love of family, the outdoors and the gospel are your legacy.
Ken was born in Provo, Utah and attended Provo High School. After serving as a missionary in the Central United States mission, he graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in accounting. He spent most of his career working in civilian personnel for the U.S. government. His career allowed him to live and work in Turkey, England and Germany, and to travel the four corners of the earth. After retiring, he spent 16 years enjoying the slopes as a ski instructor at Deer Valley. No matter where he traveled, he always had a smile and was quick to make friends with everyone he met.
To the end, he served his precious wife, Gaye, to whom he was sealed on August 10, 1962 in the Logan temple. His 4 kids and 22 grandkids treasure their memories of skiing, laughing, and learning how to serve with him. Although a heart attack took him from us, we will always remember that same heart filled with an abundance of giving, loving and serving. Ken was a shining example of good. He adored his family and prioritized them above all else. He always had an ongoing project (or 20) and worked harder than anyone we know.
He is survived by the love of his life, Gaye, and his children Myken Crowell Shingleton (Brent), Roger Reed (Jill), Matt Reed (Christy) and Shannon Barnhill (Scott). He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Jeff Crowell.
