Longtime Bountiful resident Kent Raider Hall passed away at his home on December 14, 2014 at age 76. He was surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born May 19, 1938 in Afton, Wyoming to Otto Perry and Beatrice S. Hall and spent his early childhood years in Star Valley, Wyoming. Later the family moved to Salt Lake City where he attended South High School and graduated from the University of Utah. Kent completed a six-year tour of duty in the US Army Reserves and married Shirlee Nielsen in the Salt Lake Temple on May 25, 1962.
Kent was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Bishop of the Orchard 2nd Ward. Many will long-remember him for his powerful testimony and the Gospel Doctrine classes he taught. As a young man he served a mission to the Southern States and completed a CES mission in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with Shirlee in 2003.
Kent taught school for 36 years: 11 years at Lincoln Junior High and 25 at West High School. He loved his career in public education; World History was his favorite course to teach. He developed life-long friendships with his colleagues at West and was a loyal Panther.
Kent is survived by his wife of 52 years, two sons, and three daughters. Christopher Hall of Centerville; Caralee (Brett) Gee of Layton; and Shannon (Ryan) Gee, Jared (Lanny) Hall, and Rachel (Matt) Bird all of Bountiful. Kent and Shirlee have 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19 at 1 PM in the Orchard Ward Building at 3707 South, 800 West, Bountiful. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main in Bountiful, and from 11:30 to 12:30, just prior to the funeral services. Interment, Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
