Kent MacKay Burt

March 11, 1927 — March 24, 2015

Our loving husband and sweet dad, Kent MacKay Burt, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2015 surrounded by his wife and children.
Anyone who knew him knew a smile – because that was something he shared with everyone.  He was a friend to all and made everyone feel special.
The centerfold of Kent’s life was faith and family. Of his devotion to both there was no doubt.  He and his loving wife, Hilda Preete celebrated 67 years of marriage and during that time they welcomed four children into their loving arms, Terry (Mark) Liddle, Wendel (Kerry) Burt, Ron (Leslie) Burt and Marilyn (Dave) Beck.  Their family expanded to include 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.  This beautiful legacy surrounded him in life and in his final hours.  In addition to family, Kent’s life was blessed with a strong and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.  Throughout his life, he was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  That faith was evident in all he did, inspiring young and old alike, as he served in numerous callings as well as a senior missionary alongside his wife, Hilda, in the New York Rochester Historical Sites Mission in 1994-1995.  If you knew Kent, you knew a man who truly wished to leave the world a better place.
He had a “can do” spirit that guided him in a successful career in sales and no doubt played a role in his children and grandchildren’s entrepreneurial spirits.  He was extremely proud of his children’s professional and personal success and was our biggest cheerleader.  He enjoyed the past 30 years working with his sons, grandchildren and wife at Burt Brothers Tire and Service, which became one of the greatest joys in his life.
Kent was born on March 11, 1927 and was the 10th child of William Willden and Edith Wynder Burt. He and Hilda were married in the Cardston Alberta Canada Temple, on September 30, 1947.  He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and two grandchildren, Stephen Burt Liddle and Rebecca Ann Liddle.
He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.  A viewing will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015, from 6-8pm at the Cottonwood 4th Ward LDS Chapel, 5565 Neighbor Lane, Salt Lake City UT 84117.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11am. A viewing will be held at the chapel prior to the service from 9:30-10:30am. Interment at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
