Ketan Niranjan Patel unexpectedly yet peacefully entered into the presence of his Savior while at his Farmington home on December 29, 2014. Ketan was born on September 5, 1969 to Nila & Niranjan Patel in Kampala, Uganda Africa. The Patel family fled as political refugees briefly to India, later to London UK, settling in Queens New York. Ketan moved to Utah in 1992 where shortly after he became the first member of his family to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ketan loved the gospel so much that he quit school and attended the Ogden LDS Institute of Religion full time for 1 year. This time is when he began his foundation of doctrinal knowledge which he continually built upon on a daily basis. As a young 20-something newer member of the church, Ketan was called to and served as the 2nd counselor in the presidency of the Ogden Utah mission for the LDS church. Ketans love for the Savior, His gospel and missionary work grew exponentially and soon became solidly ingrained into who Ketan was and how he lived his life. Ketan loved studying the scriptures and they were his constant companion. Ketans main hobbies included studying the gospel, movies and being a New Yorker, food of course. Ketans love of movies began with his earliest favorite American memory of watching the movie Star Wars as a young child. Ketan was always found with a smile on his face and was heard with his larger than life laugh. He is known for being happy, considerate, a loyal friend, a counselor to many and life of the party. Ketan was extremely charismatic and had a magnetic personality that all were drawn to. It was that charisma combined with the spiritual energy that flowed from him that caught the attention of his eternal companion Kristi.
Kristi first saw Ketan August 17th 2013 while he was teaching gospel doctrine class. Kristi and Ketan both felt moved upon by the spirit to get to know each other. Their friendship continued to develop over the next 3 months. Ketan and Kristi both knew shortly after beginning to date that they were going to marry each other. Kristi and Ketan were sealed for time and all eternity on April 12, 2014 in the Salt Lake City temple. Ketan had always desired to be a father and had that honor bestowed upon him as he became an instant father figure to Kristis children Jason and Jackie Stone. Ketan loved Jason and Jackie tremendously and cherished the time he spent teaching them the gospel. Ketan will be remembered most for his true discipleship of Christ and desires everyone to partake in the joy that comes from living a gospel centered life.
Ketan is survived by his wife Kristi, son Jason, daughter Jackie, parents Niranjan and Nila Patel, Errol Phillips, Mark & Glenda Pittman, siblings Alpa & Jason McIntyre, Russ & Rachel Witt, Sonda Phillips Ladeaux, Jacob & Kiri Phillips, April Phillips.
