On November 22, 2024, at 9:20 p.m., Kevin Mitchell Butler suddenly and unexpectedly left this earth due to a tragic accident. He was only 31 years old. He left this earth doing what he loved, and that was enjoying one hell of a last ride on his Harley. He left behind his wife, Teisha Butler, his two beautiful boys, Zayden Dean Butler (5 months old) and Declan Thomas Butler (6 years old), his dogs, Nyx (his 90-pound bowling ball) and Sasha, and Lucky (the cat he had a love-hate relationship with).
Kevin was born on April 7, 1993, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born into the caring and loving arms of his father, Philip Emery Butler, a retired Marine and Air Force veteran and his mother, Tracey Michele Nielson Butler, a veteran of the US Navy. Kevin had one older brother, Timothy James Butler, who is on active duty in the Air Force.
Kevin sure gave his parents a run for their money. He was caught shooting a shotgun through the floor, sneaking out his window on the second floor because he didn’t want to be grounded, and wrestling his brother TJ down the stairs and going through the banister. The “Butler Boys” were known for many things such as being invincible, always being aware of their surroundings, and being "expensive in repairs". You never wanted to ask "why" because you’d just shake your head in disbelief. They had many broken bones, loved with their whole hearts, and proved that no object is "Butler proof". They were a selfless, loyal, hardworking, goofy, respectful, patient, and passionate duo. TJ was Kevin’s hero. He looked up to him in so many ways. Kevin was always so proud of his brother's accomplishments, especially in the Air Force. TJ and his wife Jackie welcomed their first child Evelyn (Evie) Rose Butler on August 17, 2024. Kevin was so excited to finally become an uncle! He wanted to be an extra safe place for Evie. He couldn’t wait to watch his kids grow up with TJ's so they could become best friends, just like him and TJ.
Kevin had so much love and appreciation for the military. The majority of his family have all served our country. He was so proud and honored to be part of a family that fought for our freedom. He would wake up early on Veterans Day just so he could thank everyone that he knew who served and show his appreciation for their service.
Kevin has been riding bikes for most of his life. He started on trials bikes with his Grandpa, Dean M. Nielson. Kevin and his grandpa shared a passion for riding bikes, fast cars, and watching movies. Grandpa was Kevin’s person. He was the person he trusted and confided in, and usually the only person he would listen to. Kevin’s love for riding trials bikes with his grandpa turned into a love for Harleys. He bought his first Harley in 2019, a Harley Sportster. He only had that bike for about a year before he decided he needed a bigger and faster bike. He then bought his Dyna and it was known for the Ape Hanger handle bars. This was the perfect fit for Kevin since his wingspan was 6'3. Kevin loved upgrading his bikes and vehicles. It wasn’t until his fourth and last bike, which he named Betty, that he saw himself and his soul in his bike. Kevin loved riding. No matter the weather or what was happening around him. He had a goal to put 20,000 miles on his bike this riding season and he went just over his goal. This year he accomplished many bucket list goals, one of those was riding to Sturgis. Kevin was always competing with his best friend, Mike Miller Jr. They were always trying to beat each other to upgrades on their bikes or the coolest new part. Kevin said that Mike is the person who is most like him, which is one of the reasons that he appointed Mike to be Zayden's Godfather.
Kevin met his wife Teisha 11 years ago while working at Corner 22 in Bountiful, UT. Even though it was love at first sight, laugh, and Mountain Dew through the window, they had to go their separate ways in order for fate to step in. It was during this time that Kevin and Lindsey Warenski, his forever friend, welcomed their son Declan Thomas Butler on August 8, 2018. Kevin and Teisha later reconnected in 2020 and then were married on March 24, 2022. They were married at the Farmington courthouse only a week after Kevin proposed. They couldn’t wait to start their lives together as Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Butler. Kevin and Teisha were best friends first, husband and wife second, and soulmates third. They were polar opposites, but that is what made their marriage great! He was her "calm" and she was "his emotions". They balanced each other well. They purchased their first home in 2023 in Woods Cross. They were blessed to welcome their miracle baby, Zayden Dean Butler on June 14, 2024. Kevin was so happy he had two sons to carry out his legacy, his last name, and his passion for riding bikes, playing basketball, and of course, watching old movies, anime, and superhero comics. He was so excited to teach them “the ways”.
Kevin loved sports! He played basketball, soccer and football. He always cheered for the underdogs! He was a loyal fan to the Utah Jazz, the Los Angeles Clippers and the New York Jets. Basketball became his outlet when he was growing up and it continued to be an outlet for him, even as an adult. He loved to collect jerseys for all his favorite teams and players.
Kevin was the Assistant Manager for Cody Group LLC. He was a transloader of fuel for the railroad for Cody Group and became a part of their close work family. Bob Elbert, the owner, always made sure Kevin and his family were taken care of. Kevin also worked with his best friend of 20 years, Ryan Turner, who he proudly called a brother. They always had each other's back. Whenever Ryan and Kevin were together you could count on being entertained.
Kevin and Teisha’s second home was at Blakline Speedshop. If Kevin wasn’t at work, he was at the shop. If he wasn’t at home, he was at the shop. He loved each and every person there, and much as they did, him. They were his second family. He went on many motorcycle rides, turn and burns, and long road trips with them. The shop was his safe haven, his stress release and his second home. This was Kevin and Teisha’s family.
Kevin's life revolved around his family. He loved his wife in every way and always provided for her, and of course, his two sons. He loved making new memories, as well as sharing old ones. Kevin was a hard worker and helped anyone at the drop of a hat. He did everything he could to make his family proud and live up to the Butler name. He never did anything without a smirk or giant smile on his face.
Kevin was loved by so many. His sudden passing has affected his friends and family greatly. Kevin leaves behind many loved ones, including his PopPop and MomMom, Charles and Liz Butler, his Grandma, Shelly Kaulfers Palkowetz and Grandpa David Palkowetz, and Great Grandma Carol. He leaves behind his Aunts/Uncles: Russ and Laura Nielson, Rick and Rebecca Nielson, Ashley Palkowetz, Teri and Duane Bushway, Paul and Katherine Butler as well as several cousins.
Kevin also leaves behind his Mother in-law Kari Craig, Father in-law, Mark Archer, and Mother in-law Debbie Archer, Grandma Joyce Craig, Colleen Archer and Janeen Jillson, his sister in- law Kira Aldus and her husband Jed Aldus, as well as his brother in-laws Kaleb Archer (Paige) and Samuel Archer, and many many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Kevin was greeted on the other side by his Grammy Ruth Elizabeth Kaulfers, Michael Miller Senior, his sister in-law Abbie Archer, Jeff Brice, Courtney Hadley, Porscha Dzierzon, Harris Craig, Brice Archer, Terri Archer and Brian Archer. His dogs Aegis, Bus Bus and Panda Po. He was greeted with his white Angel wings, riding his Pearl White Harley Davidson, in his leather vest jamming out to a Disney Movie Soundtrack.
A Viewing and Meet & Greet will be held from 12:30 -2:00 p.m., on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah.
