Kevin Dale Moon

Kevin Dale Moon was born April 5, 1960 in San Francisco, California.  He passed away at home on March 5, 2019 at the age of 58 after a short battle with brain cancer.  Kevin is the son of Floyd and Sally Moon and the fourth of five sons.  At a young age, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah with his family. He later served a mission in Tokyo, Japan and graduated from the University of Utah. On March 15, 1985, he was sealed for time and all eternity to his sweetheart Mary Ann Keddington in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised their family in Centerville, Utah.
 
A loving husband and father, Kevin followed his parents' example and was devoted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. He served in a number of church callings. Always an example of kindness and service, he had a willing attitude and humbly served, often without recognition. He was rarely heard to complain and accepted life as it came. A good sport throughout recent health trials, he seemed to always respond, "It is what it is" when asked how he felt about the situation.
 
From the time he graduated college, Kevin worked as a software engineer on Hill Air Force Base. He was well respected among his peers and enjoyed long friendships with many coworkers. His family is grateful for these friends, as well as the many neighbors, who offered their support when his health took him away from his desk.
 
Kevin enjoyed being active. He loved the outdoors, hiking, playing games and travelling. While raising a young family, Kevin made time to coach his children on various soccer and basketball teams. When not coaching, he was on the sidelines cheering them on. Kevin also enjoyed shooting hoops, even though he seemed to get injured every time his wife was watching. As a couple, they enjoyed golfing (injury free) and were often known to head out of town together for a weekend of camping and golf. When it was time to relax, he could be found reading a book at home or under an umbrella on a sunny beach.
 
To his children, Kevin will be remembered for his willingness to listen patiently and to show his love regardless of the situation. He seemed to truly understand them and always responded in a way that showed he had their best interest at heart. His children appreciate his dedication to helping them succeed in school. His love as a father and example of service had a profound influence on each of them.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; children, Kristi, Spencer (Lori), Rachel (Morgan) St. Onge and Elijah; father, Floyd; brothers, Steve, Keith (Sherlyn), Wayne (Debbie) and Bill (Laraine); and grandchildren, Adaline and Jared. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sally.
 
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel, 1298 N 400 W, Centerville.  Friends and family may visit Sunday, March 10 from 6:00-8:00pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main St., Bountiful, or prior to the funeral service from 9:30-10:45 AM at the church. The burial will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Primary Children's Hospital.
