Kevin Jay Roush passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family who loved him very much on June 11, 2021. He was proceeded in death by U Jay Roush (Father), Jeffrey Scott Roush (Brother), Jeremy Jay Roush (Son), William Jay Roush (Grandson), He is survived by Connie Turner Roush (Mother), sisters Debbie (Robert) Bennett, Jaylynn (Ferrin) Secrist, and Lisa (Ron) Jensen, sons Jason Scott Roush and Tyler William Roush (Ashleigh), daughter Morgan Lilli Kipp (Parker), and grandkids Jennessa, Wyatt, Chloe, Taylie, Karena, and Sebastian.
Kevin was born on August 25, 1959, to U Jay and Connie and grew up in Salt Lake City and West Bountiful, UT. He loved playing sports such as baseball and was a great pitcher in high school, and another one of his pastimes was the time that he enjoyed riding his horses. Once he graduated from Viewmont High school, he started a journey of a carrier starting with dump trucks, cement trucks, and becoming an auto mechanic. Sadly, his career was cut short from slowly losing his eyesight from a condition called RP (Retinitis Pigmentosa). Once this happened, he then lost his driver’s license, however he did not give up and took a job bagging groceries at the local grocery stores and was proud of it and continued to do it with passion for 15 years before retiring at 55 due to losing his eyesight completely and becoming blind.
Kevin loved sports and made sure to never miss a game when it was on, to the point he had the ESPN logo burned into his TV screen. His favorite teams were the Utah Jazz, Colorado Rockies, and the Indianapolis Colts, as well as Roush Racing within NASCAR.
One thing he always took pride in was his sharing of stories. He was a true storyteller, and he would always put so much thought and enthusiasm into them whether it was tales of his high school days, games he had watched or played, hunting, camping, or fishing trips. He always had a story for any kind of topic you could think of. We heard a lot of the same ones, but now looking back we all treasure being able to hear about the deer he and his brother shot or times he spent working with his father, and so much more.
He was and always will be the kind of person who would give you the shirt off of his back or the last dollar in his wallet. Kevin was the kind of man who would always do his best to help others and be a good person even at his own expense. This was something he turned into a passion, was making others happy, especially his family. One of the most important things to him was family, whether it be his parents, siblings, children, or grandchildren. They were the light of his life and he always wanted as much time with them as possible to make memories that could be remembered for a long time. We will continue to treasure him in our hearts and memories.
