Kevin Del Van Ausdal

April 30, 1957 — August 23, 2024

Centerville, UT

Kevin Del Van Ausdal unexpectedly passed away early morning on Friday, August 23, 2024, leaving behind a heartbroken family: his eternal companion of 45 years, Barbara; five children Justin (Crystal); Megan (Michael) Pope; Katie (Dallin) Hunter, Bonnie (Joe) Chambers, and Brian (Mari). He loved being a grandpa and there are 12 grandchildren who will miss their Grandpa dearly. In addition, he leaves behind two sisters, Denise Purdy and Trina Van Ausdal. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Randy.

Kevin was born in Tucson, Arizona, to parents Van and Lorna. His father was in the Air Force, which meant there were many moves and school years in Portland, France, Tucson, Oklahoma, Layton, and finally graduation from Davis High School. He graduated from BYU with a master’s degree in accounting. He began his career working as a consultant for Arthur Andersen but after a few years and a lot of travel, he took a position with the State of Utah, retiring in 2015 after 30 years of service. For the last 7 years, he worked as an adjunct professor at Ensign College teaching project management. He loved the students and having an impact on their lives.

He was a stalwart disciple of Jesus Christ and loved serving in the church. He served a two-year mission to Paris, France, and never lost his love for the country. One of the highlights of his church service was as a counselor with Bishop Fred Nelson and Brian Breese.

A year after returning from his mission, he married Barbara Haller in the Salt Lake Temple. For the last 42 years they have made their home in Centerville. As the children were growing up, he enjoyed coaching their soccer teams and attending school events to support them. That continued on as there were recitals and sporting events with grandchildren.

Kevin was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who relished the opportunity to work on a project or help his children with their projects. Everything in our home shows his touch whether it was the deck he built with his daughter, the backyard he meticulously crafted for his wife, or the perfectly manicured yard. He loved learning and had started to learn to draw and carve. He loved doing genealogical research and he and Barbara spent many happy years researching their family histories and attending the temple together.
