Kristy Erickson Carpenter

November 24, 1983 — May 10, 2021

Kristy Erickson Carpenter was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1983 and is the 6th child of Barry and Karla Erickson. That day and every day since we have given thanks for having Kristy a part of our lives.  As a little sister she loved being with her family traveling to Island Park in the summer and fall, Arizona in the spring, and sightseeing parts of the world in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and England.

After graduation from Bountiful High where she was a Mandonelle for 3 years and a member of the Xela choir, Kristy attended Brigham Young University.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude in the BYU Master’s Program in Accounting and moved to New York City to work for Price Waterhouse Coopers Accounting Firm.  After three years in New York, she moved back to Bountiful and worked as a CPA in Lake, Hills, and Meyers and WSRP Accounting Firms in Salt Lake City.  Along with her accounting skills, Kristy polished her musical skills in piano and continued to share her gift of music by singing in church, mission farewells and family gatherings.  She continued her love for travel and did a service project in Costa Rica.

Kristy married Brant Carpenter in the Bountiful Temple on February 11, 2012 and they are the parents of two boys, Cameron age 8 and James age 5.  Her strong testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ and of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints never wavered even though she was given a difficult trial.

Kristy was diagnosed with neuroendocrine carcinoma in 2016, the year her youngest boy James was born.  She was given less than a year to live but her faith and determination, along with countless prayers and support from family and friends, granted her additional time to watch her two little boys become buddies.  Upon her diagnosis, Kristy created a bucket list which she was determined to accomplish.  She wanted to celebrate Christmas at the family cabin in Island Park.  She wanted to take her family to Hawaii and celebrate James’ 1st birthday.  Kristy and Brant planned many family outings of fishing and camping and riding their razor in the sand dunes.  What many considered simple family activities, Kristy and Brant acknowledged their time together with their little boys as Heavenly gifts of time granted to them.

In January of 2021, Kristy’s personal mantra was Power over her health, Connection with those she loved, Gratitude for her countless blessings, and Love.  One of her last journal entries reads, “I’ve been shown so much love and kindness, I want to focus on returning that love to others.  Because all you really need is Love.”

Kristy is survived by her husband Brant and their sons Cameron and James and by her parents Barry and Karla Erickson and siblings, Jeff Erickson (Inger), Cori Hinkle (Tory), Scott Erickson (Kaysee), Kelli Wilson (Jeff), and Kacee Preston (Chase), Brant’s parents, Guy and April Carpenter, Kent (Cami), and Gary Carpenter. She also leaves numerous cousins and aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews who will forever adore her.

Many thanks to the nurses and Dr. Wayne Ormsby at Utah Cancer Specialists and to Symbii Hospice for their attentive and loving care.  Heartfelt thanks also to all of her kristykickscancer followers and her mom facebook group.  A special thanks to the many friends and family members who donated gifts of love to help Kristy throughout her 5-year cancer journey.

Kristy passed away on May 10, 2021 and is now free from pain and the crippling effects of cancer.  Forever she will hold a place in our hearts and someday we will once again be greeted with her happy smile, her big shining brown eyes and outstretched arms of love.

Kristy’s funeral will be held at the Val Verda Stake Center, 2651 South 500 West at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15 with a viewing at 9:45 a.m.  A viewing will also be held at Russon Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street on Friday evening May 14 from 6-8 p.m.  Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.

The service will be live streamed on the Russon Mortuary & Crematory Facebook page.  A link to the live stream will be posted below at around 10:50 a.m.
