LaMar Hess Barlow passed away on October 12, 2017 in Bountiful, Utah, at the age of 93, surrounded by his family.
LaMar was born on June 15, 1924, in Salt Lake City to Reuel LaMar Barlow and Dora Hess, and was the older brother of Maureen Barlow Stahle. He graduated Davis High School in 1942, and enlisted in the US Navy that same year, serving in the Pacific during WWII. Following his service in the Navy, he earned his associates degree from Weber State Academy, after which he worked 36 years with the US Postal Service. Toward the end of his postal career he supervised a cleaning crew at the LDS Church Office building for 20 years.
LaMar married Laura Aldous (divorced), Lucille MacFarlane (deceased), and Margaret Wood (deceased). He is survived by his children, Scott LaMar Barlow, Orem, Craig MacFarlane (DeEtta), Kearns, Kathryn Smith (Roger), Kanab, Patrice Thomas, Salt Lake City, Janet Christensen (Blake), Hyrum, and Carol Healey (Dan) Lake Stevens, WA. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
In addition to his family, his greatest loves were serving in the temple and enjoying his beautiful garden.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 16, 2017, at the Bountiful 58th Ward, 200 West 200 North, Bountiful, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017, from 6 – 8 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main, Bountiful, Utah, and on Monday from 9:45 – 10:45 am at the church prior to the service.
