LaNae Ruth Gertsch

LaNae Ruth Gertsch, age 63, a resident of Bountiful, Utah, passed away peacefully, with two of her sisters holding her hands, February 14, 2024, at the University of Utah hospital.

LaNae was born January 1, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ray Oscar and Maeda Murri Gertsch of Midway, Utah.  She was the youngest of eight children and grew up in Midway, Utah.  She attended Wasatch High School in Heber and later graduated from Utah State University in Special Education and finished a master’s degree.

LaNae taught for the Early Childhood Programs in the Davis School District for 35 years.  She loved the students, and they loved her.  She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served a mission in Indiana and in various callings throughout her life including being a Relief Society President.

LaNae is survived by three sisters, Bonnie Lund and Lynda Call, both of Murray, Utah, and Carolyn Bratt, of St. Anthony, Idaho, and two brothers, Lyle Gertsch, and Laren Gertsch, both living in Midway, Utah.   She never married but considered her thirty-one nieces and nephews as her children.  They were a significant part of her life.

LaNae was always an optimistic and a determined person who loved life to the fullest.  She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will truly be missed.

Funeral services will occur at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Bountiful 14^th Ward, 1500 South 600 East, Bountiful, Utah.  A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, and Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.  Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Midway City Cemetery, 599 South 773 West, Midway, Utah.
