Lanny Keith Rees was born a whopping 10 pounds 7ounces and the last of 9 children to a military family of William Keith Rees and Rose Nell Rees on April 8, 1965.
A truly gentle giant of our family. He graduated on the honor from East High School carrying a 4.0 grade average and he continued his honor roll education at Salt Lake Community College. Graduating with a Bachelors Degree in financial planning. Lanny's passion was any type of High Tech electronics, only the best would qualify for Lanny.
Lanny had a brilliant mind but always was a child at heart. He was a self taught guitarist inspired by his undying love of Neil Diamond. He loved his labs Honey and Brandy, he was a true animal lover.
Lanny had strong work ethic and struggled the last few years to keep what he so valued in himself. This taught his family strength and courage. His medical conditions did not stop him, he showed all of us what it meant to be a Real Rees. To stay standing and keep fighting until the end. We continue to be amazed at how he found the courage and endurance to keep moving forward and we are proud to call him our brother.
Lanny's greatest gift in life was his heart, he knew how to love truly. He loved our mother with everything he had to give. He was truly lost after her passing; still he fought to live, however Lanny grew weary and decided to put his life in the hands of our Lord God's mercy.
Lanny peacefully and silently gave his life to God so he could finally return home to be with the one person he loved more than anyone else, our mother Rose. He also looked forward to seeing his father William and his 3 older brothers, Randy, Sandy and Ricky that he missed terribly.
Lanny leaves behind 1 older brother Danny of Colorado, 4 sisters, Victoria of Murray Utah, Mickie of Alaska, Jackie of South Salt Lake and Beckie of South Jordan. Lanny also had a brother of his heart named Doug of Salt Lake City. Lanny had many nieces and nephews, too many to count or list.
Lanny was a spiritual man; a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Lanny knew who his savior is and it brings us such peace knowing he will be reunited with his heavenly family.
Our brother will be missed in our lives however we take great comfort and peace in knowing he is free of his pain and struggle. He is with our Lord and those family members who have gone before us and patiently wait for our return home to be reunited once again for all of eternity.
There will be a private family celebration and remembrance of Lanny's life. We ask that when you think of our brother please remember to smile, for no one knows how powerful a simple smile can be and how it can lift another souls heart. Lanny knew! Please pay those forward. It can change a persons struggle just seeing the kindness of a simple smile.
