Our beautiful blue-eyed mom and grandma, Larraine McNeely, returned to her heavenly home April 19, 2024 in her home with lots of love and kisses.
Larraine was born February 5, 1937 in Malad, Idaho to William R. (Bill) and Edith Waldron Williams. She has two brothers, Larry Williams (deceased) and Dee Williams (Maryn). She loves them dearly.
She married Sydney H. McNeely in Malad, Idaho on June 15, 1957. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 5, 1958. The couple traveled around the western states during the first few years of their marriage in a trailer home. Later they bought a home and settled down in Bountiful, Utah while expecting their 3rd child.
Larraine and Syd have 4 children, Lori Elizabeth McNeely Jensen, Sidnee McNeely Gillespie (Scott), Rohn Rolland McNeely (deceased), and Linda McNeely Wangsgaard (Tim). Larraine loved being a mother. She was an excellent seamstress and made beautiful clothing for her children and herself. She was an amazing cook. Larraine baked delicious cookies, pies, rolls and German chocolate cake. She would make the best meals and all were welcome at the table in their home. Wherever mom was, there was always plenty of great food, laughter and lots of love.
She took her skill of cooking to a professional level and worked for Davis County School District as a School Foods Cook and then became a School Foods Kitchen Manager. She loved the ladies she worked with.
Larraine loved nature. She loved trees, flowers, mountains, clouds, streams and every living creature. Seeing a deer was an epic event for Larraine. She loved to paint the beautiful things in nature, her wildlife and landscape paintings are beautiful. She loved to travel, eat ice cream, shop and in later years she loved shoes and catalog shopping. She also loved to garden if it was a perfect day.
Although Larraine had many health problems, she always has a smile on her face and kind words or a joke for everyone. She was determined and stubborn, that was her superpower. She got up and got busy even when she did not feel well. Larraine cared for her husband, Syd until he passed away with cancer in 2004. She continued to serve her friends and family even in the last days of her life.
Larraine loves her family. She has 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Grandma loves each and every one of them with all her heart and they know it. They were always welcome at her home where hugs, kisses, laughter and fun were abundant!
We will miss her until we see this beautiful woman again.
We are forever grateful for the loving care given to our lovely mother by the members of the Fairfield Village Assisted Living and Inspiration Hospic Teams. You blessed mom's life with love and friendship.
