North Salt Lake, UT – Our loving Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, and friend, Larry Charles Tingey, 75, left his earthly body on a beautiful and sunny March morning . He died March 12th, 2018 from complications of Pulmonary Hypertension. He was born December 10th, 1942 to Lois Singley and Charles H Tingey and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Larry was welcomed with joy into a family of all girls. He and his sisters grew up working hard on their cattle ranch in Grays Lake, Idaho while spending part of each year in their home in Bountiful, Utah. In reflection of those cowboy roots, Larry loved horses, cowboy boots, the Grays Lake ranch land, and he often said “there is nothing better than the sweet smell of horses and hay”. Larry graduated from Bountiful High School where he served as Class President and had the lead in many school productions. He was chosen and awarded “One of the Outstanding Men of America”. He also attended the University of Utah. He honorably served in the Army National Guard and had a deep and abiding love for America. Larry worked for several prestigious companies as a Sales Executive during his career which included National Sales Manager positions for both Bowman Corporation, as well as Powder River Livestock Equipment Company. He also received numerous Sales Awards including “National Salesman of the Year”. He was a member of the Utah Jaycees and a business owner, owning Lazy Diamond Painting and we were all the recipients of his great painting skills throughout the years. Larry most recently, in his retirement, worked for Roadrunner Transportation where he had many great friends and coworkers. During his absence from work due to sickness, he expressed many times how much he missed his coworkers. Larry loved the great outdoors. He loved duck hunting throughout his life, as well as big game hunting earlier in his life. He loved fishing, was a master fisherman, and we all ate hearty as a result of his fishing skills. Larry was also a great cook. He loved to cook and shared his delights with us all at family parties. Christmas Eve ham was his specialty, but he was also quick to bring a delicious roast and potatoes to anyone who was sick or injured. Larry was a kind and generous man, and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He loved giving. He would drop off cases of fresh fruit to us all “just because” and his smile was as big as ours. Larry loved music, and had a gifted and beautiful voice. We were blessed to hear him sing many times throughout his life. He married Karen Bowen and they had 2 beautiful children. They later divorced but remained good friends throughout his life. The loves of his life were his children and grandchildren. His “girls” Jacque and Debbie also inherited that beautiful voice and Larry loved to hear his daughters sing. Some of his fondest memories were of the time spent when he accompanied Jacque and Debbie on a National Concert Tour with the New Christy Minstrels. When they each later married and had their own children, he was so very pleased by the wonderful parents and people that they had become as adults. He adored his grandchildrenand was so proud of each one of them. He leaves behind his dog “Tucker” who was his best friend and loyal companion and will miss his walks with Larry, playing, treats, and daily love. He is survived by his children: Jacque Tingey Martineau and Debra Tingey (Sean) Robertson, as well as 4 grandchildren: Brayden Lauder, Danielle Lauder (Taylor) Alston, Chase Robertson, and Talyn Robertson. Also by sisters: Luana (Robin) Hood, VaLois Henrie, and Sheryl (Gary) Smith. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Beverly Miles.
