Larry J Hansen

February 28, 1954 — September 18, 2016

Bountiful – Larry J. Hansen, 62, died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his home in Bountiful following an extended battle with heart issues.

He leaves his wife of 37 years, Cyndee (Russell) Hansen; his two sons, Jason Hansen and his partner, Brandon Snyder; and Brandon Hansen; his granddaughter, Addison; his siblings, Les Hackmeister, Kim Smith, Kelly Hansen, and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Hansen.

Larry was born and raised in Utah and had an ingenious mind that enjoyed designing and engineering new products and tools. As a career, he partnered with two friends to create a company that excelled in fiberglass and graphite products, and developed a prosthetic leg still in use today.  Outside of work, he loved spending time enjoying the outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, hunting, horseback riding, and taking trips on his motorcycle.  He also spent time on his passion of restoring old cars.

Larry also strongly supported the local medical community and development with the artificial heart program at LDS Hospital.  After having endured multiple heart attacks, Larry received an LVAD implant device, followed by a heart transplant a few years later.  Both of these medical advances saved his life, giving him an opportunity to continue to pursue his dreams and see his granddaughter grow up.

Funeral services are planned for Friday, September 23 at 11 AM at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.
