LaRue Henrie Nelson passed away on September 22, 2016 at age 92. LaRue was born in Tremonton, Utah on Nov 27, 1923 to George Byron Henrie and Arvella Olsen. The Henries were "dry" farmers in southern Idaho. LaRue attended Bear River High School, where she liked gym and played the trumpet. Her family moved to Logan where LaRue worked at Utah State as a salad cook. There she met Leon, a student at the University. They were married in the Logan temple in 1943. Soon after their wedding Leon reported for military duty in California. They were together until Leon shipped overseas in September 1944. During his absence LaRue worked in the circulation department at a Logan newspaper. While raising four boys LaRue worked as a secretary in a Boy Scout Council office, a lunchroom lady, and for more than a year delivered over 100 newspapers daily from their car to help Leon get his college degree. LaRue worked hard to make their home a pleasant and comfortable place to live. She canned lots of fruit, hand crafted a large carpet for the living room, embroidered beautifully and quilted many wonderful quilts for her children and grandchildren. LaRue served in numerous church positions and went with Leon on two full-time missions. About twelve years ago LaRue encountered the beginnings of dementia, gradually fading from friends and loved ones. She was missed. LaRue is survived by her four sons, David (Pat – deceased), Ronald (Rebecca), Charlie (Caren) and Paul (Jonia), 19 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild on the way. Of her eight brothers and sisters she is survived by her sisters, Eunice and Fay and her brothers, Carlos and Darwin. The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at Avalon and Apple Village care centers for the service they gave to LaRue.
