Lauana Whitaker Foote

October 10, 1923 — June 15, 2018

"I thank my God upon every remembrance of you (Philippians 1:3)."  And every act of kindness, every word of counsel and every expression of love.

Lauana Whitaker Foote, our dear mother returned home to the companionship of her husband and the joyous welcome of her childhood family and many friends. Lauana was born October 10, 1923 in Farmington, Utah, the seventh child in a family of eight, to devoted and hard working parents, Edmond and Elizabeth Wood Whitaker. She graduated from Davis High in 1941 and that December World War II began. She was employed at Hill Air Force Base as a secretary when she met her husband Leonard H. Foote. They were married March 4, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple by Elder Spencer W. Kimball. For twenty years she worked side by side with Leonard as the receptionist in his Medical office, enjoying and sharing wonderful relationships with his many patients.

She served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. After Leonard's death, she served as secretary to the President in the New Mexico Albuquerque Mission. She also served a three-year service mission at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City. She recorded in her history, "My greatest calling and most cherished accomplishment was the raising of my five children."  She was devoted to her family and interested in every aspect of each life.

Lauana was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her five children, Lynda  (Neal) Burton of Charleston, UT; Rosalie (Mike) Taylor of Centerville, UT; Carolyn (John) Everton of Bountiful, UT; Robert Leonard (Kally) Foote of Rochester, MN; Allison (Eric) Carter  of Highland, UT; 39 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her devoted sister Nedra Cardall and beloved niece Janet Hales.

No one will miss our mother more than her grandchildren. "Fame can't beguile you, of riches you need no part, for the children of your children have given you their hearts." Grandma's house was always where the cousins would go to become best friends. Lauana will be ever grateful for the many long hours of hard work and countless acts of kindness and concern of Leonard's brothers, Warren and Darrell in behalf of our family, in caring for the ranch.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday June 23, at the Centerville Porter Lane chapel 435 West 400 South, where a Viewing will be held at 9:00 am prior to the funeral.  Interment will be at the Farmington City Cemetery.
