Laura Broughton

October 19, 1926 — November 23, 2014

Laura Broughton was born in Fallon, Nevada, October 19, 1926, to Basil C. Johnson and Mary O. Van Why. She passed away at her home on November 23, 2014, at the age of 88.
Laura was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She married her sweetheart Herbert E. Broughton in the Logan Temple, September 12, 1950.
Laura’s life was dedicated to her family, church, and school. Her example was timeless — she continued to care for and serve to the very end, though afflicted with Parkinson’s disease.
She became a registered dietitian after obtaining a degree in food and nutrition. Later, she returned to school and received a teaching certificate in special education. She taught at Monte Vista Elementary for 20 years until she retired.
Laura and her husband served as missionaries in the Salt Lake City Temple Square mission. She also served as a Relief Society president, in Primary presidencies, as a Young Women’s advisor, in Scouting, and as faithful visiting teacher.
She is survived by her husband, Herb; children, Wade (Ann); Collin (Connie); Mylea, and Aurlisa, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the Bountiful South Stake Center, 1250 S Main, Bountiful, UT.
