LaVerne Elliott Greaves

December 5, 1936 — August 30, 2024

West Bountiful, UT

LaVerne Elliott Greaves, 87, of West Bountiful, Utah, left this life peacefully to be with her loving husband, and parents on August 30th, 2024, in Bountiful, Utah.

LaVerne was born in Elko, Nevada to Clarence LeRoy Elliott and Ardelle Brown Elliott on December 5th, 1936. She went to school in Reno, Nevada where she and her brother LeRoy loved to go on hikes and picnics. They would never get lost because they could always see their house from where they hiked to, and they had to walk a half a mile just to catch the bus. After moving around small Nevada towns she graduated from high school in Carlin, Nevada. She attended college at BYU and received her bachelor’s degree in education and was a part of BYU’s ballroom dance team. That’s where her roommate Karen, who happened to be Darrell’s niece, introduced her to the love of her life. She married Darrell Cluely Greaves on December 5, 1964, in West Bountiful, Utah where they lived for 55 years and raised three sons. During her lifetime LaVerne worked at Zion’s Bank, managed Bountiful Taco Time for over 15 years, and served as Police Secretary for The West Bountiful Police Department, from which she retired in 2006. After retirement, she worked at West Bountiful Elementary and she and Darrell served as Crossing Guards on the corner of 400 North and 1100 West for several years.

In 2010, LaVerne received the honor of being West Bountiful City’s Citizen of the Year. She was the best grandma, mom, wife, neighbor, and friend that anyone could have ever had. After a long day of work herself, LaVerne always took time to sit at the kitchen table and hear about her sons’ days at school and work. She was always thoughtful and caring in all her relationships; adding a personal touch with beautiful hand-crafted greeting cards for her grandkids birthdays or just to let you know she was thinking of you. LaVerne loved to travel and see new places. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

LaVerne is preceded in death by her loving husband Darrell and parents Ardelle and Clarence LeRoy Elliott.

She is survived by her brother, LeRoy Elliott (Maureen), sons Shane (Shellie), Tony (Aubrey), and Tyler (Natalie), Grandchildren Nathan Miller, Shelayne Barrett (Jordan), Brindalyn Greaves, Melea Greaves, Tressa Greaves, Ellianne Greaves, Nick Hjorten, Chad Greaves, Bridger Greaves, and 5 great-grandchildren.
