Our very loving and lovable husband, father, grandfather, brother, passed away Wednesday morning October 10, 2012 (10/10/12). His last earthly hours were spent with his devoted wife and family members at his bedside, all of them expressing love and appreciation.
He was born 16 February 1919, in Laketown, Utah, to Charles Fred and Luella Kearl Eller, and was their second son, Four siblings came later. He always loved and appreciated the beautiful Bear Lake and it was always “Home” to him. After graduation from North Rich High School he joined the U.S. Army and served in various locations for 5 1/2 years. His final station was on Saipan.
After discharge from the Army he accepted a call to the LDS Texas/Louisiana Mission where he not only served an honorable mission but also met his future bride. On Sept. 12, 1950 he married Margaret Rae Hall in the Cardston, Alberta Temple. To them were born Kathryn,Nancy, Robert (Bob) and Steven. LaVon graduated from BYU in 1953 and accepted employment in Casper, Wyoming with an oil company, then to Santa Rosa, CA, working for the city of San Rafael as Deputy Finance Director and eventually back to Salt Lake City.
Upon retirement he and Rae served a mission in the Hawaii/Honolula Mission as office couple,Lavon assuming duties as accountant. A second mission to England was a call to work on the British 1881 Census Project, a very rewarding experience. He was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions and callings but much appreciated as a Ward or Stake Clerk.
LaVon is survived by his wife of 62 years and three children, Nancy, Robert (Kris), and Steven (Ralene). He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathryn in 2004. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and one to carry. Also surviving are two sisters, LuRene Webb (Delford), Marjean May, and brother, Ronald Eller. One brother, Howard Eller, predeased him.
Services will be held Monday, October 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary located at 295 North Main Street in Bountiful, UT. Family and friends may visit Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to10:45 a.m.
