LaVon Nielsen

LaVon Bott Nielsen died May 28, 2013, at her home in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by her children. She was born December 14, 1916, in Brigham City, Utah, daughter of Lorenzo J. Bott and Hazel Barker Bott. She grew up in Brigham City, Utah, and graduated from Box Elder High School.
She attended and graduated from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where she met her husband, William Durrell (Quig) Nielsen, from Hyrum, Utah. They were married August 25, 1939, in the Salt Lake Temple by President Heber J. Grant. She was an active, lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her children: Judy Christine (Richard) Dahl of Phoenix, Arizona; William Durrell (Janelle Merrill) Nielsen II of Bountiful, Utah; Kathy Jane (Brent) Erickson of Bountiful, Utah; Steven Howard Nielsen of Centerville, Utah; and Lizabeth (David) Archibald of Bountiful, Utah; by her 28 grandchildren and 64 (more expected) great grandchildren; and a brother L. Max Bott of Brigham City, Utah.
Preceding her in death were her husband, William Durrell (Quig) Nielsen, daughter-in-law, Glenda Lynn Hodgson (Steven) Nielsen, great grandson Ethan Lees, great granddaughter Caroline Archibald, sister and brother-in-law Arola Bott and Leonard McDonald; sister and brother-in-law Helyn Bott and Keith S. Boyer), and sister-in-law Ruth Marie Christensen (L. Max) Bott.
Expressions of sincere appreciation are extended to Lexy Tycksen Ellsworth, and to Symbii Hospice for their wonderful and tender care and concern for her, and to Russon Brothers Mortuary for their most understanding and professional services.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Lakeview Ward LDS Church, 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful, Utah. While there will be no viewing, those who wish to greet the family are welcome between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Lakeview Ward LDS Church. Burial will be in the Brigham City, Utah, cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Primary Children’s Medical Center, 100 North Mario Capecchi Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84113.
