Lavonne Aloha Nelson Brockbank passed away on Feb. 9, 2018. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 29, 1925 to Robert W Nelson and Elizabeth Rupp. She was an “army brat” and was raised in Hawaii, New Jersey, Washington, and California. After high school, she moved to Salt Lake City where she met her eternal companion, David Nevin Brockbank. They were married April 18, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Preceded in death by her husband and her son, David Nelson Brockbank. Survived by children, Kathy Murphy (John), Joanne Day (Mark), Gary (Marilee), and daughter-in-law Xan, 14 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Mom worked for many years as a loved and respected secretary at Centerville and Adelaide Elementaries. She is a member of the LDS Church, and she served faithfully in many callings. She and Dad served in the Tampa, Florida Mission, and after his death, she served in the Nauvoo, Illinois Mission. She loved her many years of service as a hostess in the Beehive House and as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple. Her greatest accomplishment was the love and service she gave her family and many, many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Centerville South Stake Center, 270 North 300 East, Centerville. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services.
