Lawrence John Wanner

June 10, 1934 — June 8, 2018

Lawrence John Wanner, 83, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2018 surrounded by his family.  He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Lawrence was born on June 10, 1934 in Logan, Utah to Blanche (Olney) and Joseph John Wanner.  He was the first of six children and grew up in Cache Valley, Utah. At age 17 he began a 33-year career at Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, Utah. During the Vietnam Era, he was part of a team that maintained F-4 fighter jets at many different air bases in Asia and Europe. After retiring from Hill, he spent another 20 years as a hair stylist. Oh, how he loved his sweet elderly patrons who lived in the Avenues of Salt Lake City! He called them, "my Jewels."

Lawrence had a deep devotion to family and friends. He worked hard to maintain strong family ties, and loved to preserve family history. Lawrence loved people, animals, classical music, gardening, painting, playing the piano, and a good piece of dark chocolate. He will be remembered for his kindness and acts of service to all who knew him. He loved his Savior and tried to live His teachings by not judging others, helping those in need, forgiving, and asking for forgiveness.

Lawrence had three children, Cindy Paskett (Frank), Clark Wanner, and Michele Juarez (Omar); 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Blanche and Joseph, brother Gary, sister Joan Miller, and grandson Jonathan Wanner. He is survived by a sister LaDean Yost (Larry), and two brothers Brent (Nancy) and Rodney (Barbara).

Services will be held on Saturday, June 16 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street in Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 pm, and a funeral at 2 pm. Interment will be at the Centerville, Utah Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who served him so tenderly during the last few years of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests planting a tree, beautiful perennial or giving service.
