Lawrence Walter Urry beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend peacefully passed away at home December 4, 2012 after a courageous battle following a stroke in 2009. Born November 18, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Lawrence and Cynthia Arnold Urry. Raised in Woods Cross. He married the love of his life, Judith Laura Francom on June 4, 1956 in the Salt Lake temple. They have 10 children: Cynthia (Chuck) Slack, David (Kathy), John (JaNae), Bill (Sandra – deceased), Becky (Joal) Curtis, Larry (Sallie), Sharon (Sean) Peters, Matthew (Sheri), Sarah (Marc) Anderson, and Amy (Mike) Eggett. He earned a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Utah and spent his entire career at Sperry Univac. He faithfully served in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including a full time mission to Australia, a mission with his sweetheart to the Baltics and never missed a month of home teaching. He served in the Korean War as an MP and sharpshooter. He was the mayor of Woods Cross for 8 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, family history, lapidary, and gardening. He is survived by his beautiful wife and best friend Judy, 10 children, 57 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, a bother Roger (Marilyn), and sisters Beverly (Doug) Wilson and Bette (Bob) Williams. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter in law Sandra, and grandson Matthew.
Funeral services will be held December 11 at 11:30 am at the Centerville 3rd Ward, 900 South 400 East. A viewing will be held on December 10 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful, and Tuesday morning at the church from 10:00 – 11:15 prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
