LEAH DANCE MYERS 1919 – 2010
Leah Dance Myers passed away peacefully on December 15, 2010 at the age of 91. She was born October 27, 1919 in Thomas, Idaho to Leroy and Lillie Noack Dance. She grew up on a farm in Idaho where she learned hard work through the example of her wonderful parents. Leah attended school in Lewiston, Idaho and Berkeley, California. She graduated from BYU with a B.S. degree in education and taught school in Idaho for three years. On June 27, 1944 she married Garth Gardner Myers in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to California, where Leah taught school four more years while her husband attended medical school.
Leah was the mother of six children: Leah Marie (deceased), Suzanne (Richard) Hammond, SLC; Karen (Thomas) Farmer, St. Louis, MO; Marilyn (Andrew) Smith, SLC; John (Cherilyn) Myers, SLC; and Laurie (Mark) Peterson, Antioch, CA. She had twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty-five great grandchildren.
Leah and Garth lived in California, Georgia, Louisiana and North Carolina They then settled in Salt Lake City. She and her husband served LDS missions in Charleston, South Carolina and the Family History Center in Salt Lake. She was always active in the LDS Church serving in many positions of leadership and teaching. Leah made contributions to Utah Youth Village and made more than 50 quilts over the years for the graduating youth. Leah is survived by her loving husband, Garth, three brothers: Eldred (Bernice, deceased), Dave (Jean), Arnold (Margaret) and two sisters: Arlene (James, deceased), and Norene (Elmo, deceased). She was preceded in death by her daughter, Leah Marie; parents; sister, Afton and son-in-law, Kenneth Yoho. She dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was loved by them.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 12:00 at the Foothill 7th Ward, 2215 Roosevelt Avenue, Salt Lake City, UT. Friends may call at the church Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
