Leland Niel Dexter

Leland Niel Dexter passed away on August 13, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on April 17, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alfred Dexter Jr. and Laura Vance Dexter, Niel was welcomed by his sister, Norda Jeanne. From a young age, Niel displayed an entrepreneurial spirit, starting with selling candy bars to his scout friends at just 8 years old.

He pursued his education at BYU and later married Carol Walker on October 2, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage of nearly 20 years was preceded by 45 years together, during which they founded Dexter Design in 1979 and Dexter Development Inc. Niel retired as a flooring salesman.

Niel is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Walker Dexter; his sister, Norda Jeanne Covington; his two cherished stepsons, Bret A. Walker and Bart A. Walker; and his three granddaughters, Shelby, Britney, and Courtney, who were the joy of his life.

A graveside service will take place at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, Utah, Friday, August 23, 2024 at 12:00 PM. A celebration of Niel’s life will be held in Las Vegas at a later date. The graveside service will be streamed live on the Russon Mortuary Live Facebook page and on this obituary page below, where it will appear 10-15 minute prior to the service at 12:00 PM.
