LeNore Thompson Smedley

Our dear mother, grandmother and matriarch, LeNore Thompson Smedley, age 96, finished her mortal journey on November 14, 2016. She was born at home in Chesterfield, Idaho on August 15, 1920, a daughter of Israel Ernest and Anna Marie Thompson. At age three she came on a train to Bountiful, Utah with her family where she has resided the last 93 years.  
She grew up to be a lovely young lady along with sisters Beth (Carroll), Gwen (Chatterley), Connie (Bangerter) and brother, E. Paul Thompson. She attended schools in Bountiful and graduated from Davis High. Shortly after graduation she married and was sealed to Fred Streeper Smedley in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1938. They were blessed with four sons and three daughters.
LeNore was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served diligently in many callings including Relief Society President. She enjoyed being a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for over 38 years. In 1986-87, as a widow, she served in the California Fresno Mission. Her great joy was to also serve as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples for 13 years.
LeNore was employed at various jobs from her early youth and became a valued employee of J. C. Penney Co. for 20 years.
Her eternal companion, Fred passed away in 1983. In 1989 she married Charles H. Empey; following his passing in 1998, she married Ralph J. Henderson in 2002, he survives her.
She is survived by her children Merrill T. (Barbara, deceased); Carolyn (L. Perry) Jordan; Dennis F. (Cindy); Rebecca "Becki" (Paul C.) Toone; Ross T. (Shirlene); Kevin L. (Laurie). She has 24 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons. She is preceded in death by her eternal companion, an infant daughter Dixie, and all her siblings and their spouses.
Great appreciation is expressed for the many kind and thoughtful care givers who cared for LeNore's needs as a resident of the Inn on Barton Creek for the past 14 months.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Bountiful. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 21, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Kimball Mill Chapel, 650 So. 200 East, Bountiful, with visiting from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
