Leone Buttars returned home with honor November 14, 2013 at the home of her niece, Cris Clayton of Centerville, UT. Leone is the daughter of William David Buttars and Edna Louise Whitney Buttars. In 1960 she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Gulf States Mission. She worked at Mountain Bell, until she retired on February 28, 1986. Leone served in the Salt Lake Temple for the past fifteen years. She made thousands of teddy bears for the police and fire departments to give during emergencies and blessed the lives of many with a helping hand and a loving and gracious heart. She was such an important part of all of our lives and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, William David Buttars and Edna Louise Whitney Buttars, and her siblings, Clair DeVerl Buttars (Melba), Harold William Buttars (Sarah), Loren Lyle Buttars, Vaughn Whitney Buttars (Doris), Thora Mae Buttars Price (Aaron), Lula Buttars Lott (Melvin), and Orland Sam Buttars. She is survived by and cherished by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 18, 2013, at the Haven Ward, 2280 S. 300 E., Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may visit Sunday between 6 and 8 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 S. 200 E., Salt Lake City, and Monday morning10 to 11 am at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Clarkston Cemetery.
