Leslie Ann Taylor Pessetto passed away on January 7, 2016 in her home in Anchorage, Alaska surrounded by family, after a brief, but hard fought, battle with breast cancer. Leslie was born on April 20th, 1959 to F. Willis and Louise Dickson Taylor in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the sixth of seven children. Leslie grew up in Bountiful, Utah with the mountains right out her front door. She loved "The Sound of Music" and enjoyed walking and singing in the mountains. She loved flowers, water skiing, music, basketball, playing piano, and most of all her family.
Leslie attended BYU and became a registered nurse. While in nursing school, she met a handsome young man. Over the months, Scott and Leslie fell in love and got married on September 5th, 1980 in the Salt Lake Temple. Leslie worked at LDS Hospital and Scott finished his last year of school. Leslie loved Bountiful and being close to family. She would have been happy to have stayed there her whole life, but before long they began their world travels that would become her new way of life.
As they made new homes in diverse places—including Oklahoma, Texas, Scotland, Dubai, and Alaska—they welcomed six children. Leslie made sure home was a place of peace and love for her family wherever they went. She had a talent for organization and made raising six children look easy. She did it gracefully and with so much joy. Leslie was a gourmet cook, immaculate housekeeper, and filled her home with music and love for everyone who entered.
Leslie was a "can do" woman…she was up to any challenge and was often told she "worked harder than ten men." She loved gardening, mowing the lawn, and even refinishing the driveway. Some of her hobbies included playing tennis, running, snorkeling, reading, participating in triathlons, cross country skiing, dates with Scott, serving in her church, and helping others. Leslie was also a woman of faith, and she centered her life around Christ. One of her favorite activities was her work in the office at the Anchorage, Alaska Temple.
Leslie was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be sorely missed by her husband, six children, 12 grandchildren, and all those who knew and loved her. As one friend commented, "Leslie was an angel long before today."
Leslie was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Dickson Taylor, and her father, Frank Willis Taylor. She is survived by her loving husband Scott, their six children: Elise (Ryan) Poulson, Amy (Mark) Beebe, Lara (Tommy) Oldham, Scott (Rachelle) Pessetto, Jared and Julie; her 12 grandchildren: Claire, Andrew, Kate, Elizabeth, Jack, Benjamin, Christine, Peter, Hazel, Audrey, Baby P. and Baby O.; and her six siblings Greg Taylor, Frank (Deb) Taylor , Dick (Tami) Taylor , Laurie (Craig) Brewster, Lisa (Gary) Evett, and Alan (Paula) Taylor.
An open house will be held Friday, January 22 from 6 to 8:30 pm at 4533 Summerwood Drive, Bountiful, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23 at 11 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 3350 South 100 East, Bountiful, Utah. Interment will be in Bountiful, Utah.
