Leslie Rees

December 24, 1947 — April 4, 2014

Leslie Jensen Rees, born December 24, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Friday, April 4, 2014. Leslie is the daughter of Darlene and Alan Jensen. She married Paul J. Rees on August 27, 1971 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and eternity.
Leslie was raised in Tooele, Utah and had a wonderful and joyous childhood surrounded by family and friends. She graduated from Tooele High School in 1966, and from Utah State University with a degree in Sociology in 1970. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority where she made, and has maintained, many lifelong friends.
Leslie was a dedicated wife and mother but more than anything she loved being a grandma. They were her entire world. She loved to share every adventure with us no matter how large or small. She was always up for a road trip or a trip to her beloved cabin in Wyoming. She never missed a moment to enjoy her grandchildren –whether it was a soccer game, a dance recital or a school program. Grandma Leslie loved Disneyland and she made it magical for us in every way. She dreamed of going on a Disney cruise, and in February we were blessed to spend a week together on the Disney Wonder and make her dream come true. She was our affectionate and loving grandma, who loved nothing more than a hug from her grandkids and her sons.
As a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served willingly and without hesitation in Relief Society presidencies, as a Compassionate Service leader, as a devoted visiting teacher and as a Primary teacher. She and Paul served together as service missionaries at the Genealogical Library at Temple Square. She also served at the women’s shelter in Davis County. The service Leslie gave was always very quiet. She gave so much of her time to her family and friends but did not accept praise or expect anything in return. She just simply gave of herself. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, and leaves a hole in our lives that can never be filled.
She was preceded in death by her mother Darlene Jensen. She is survived by her husband Paul; her sons Brian and wife Jamie, Kyle and wife Lindsey; father Alan Jensen; brothers Kevin Jensen, David and Tammy Jensen; her five grandchildren: Logan, Sophie, Henry, Hallie and Cale; as well as many beloved in-laws, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Our family wishes to express appreciation to the emergency staff at Davis Hospital and especially Dr. Ivester and Nurse Barb in the ICU. Thank you for caring for Leslie and us in such a respectful and kind way.
A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 North Main, Farmington, Utah on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Farmington 20th Ward LDS Chapel, 1885 North Summerwood Drive, Farmington, Utah. The funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the South Morgan Cemetery, 335 South State, Morgan.
