Leva'ai Mika "Lee" Moe

Leva‘ai Mika “Lee” Moe Jr. died in his home in Bountiful, UT on September 27, 2024. Lee was born in Faleniu, American Samoa on September 26, 1954, to Soona FoaFoa Moea‘i Tataipu, and Mika Moe, Sr. He had 13 siblings and graduated from Mapusaga High School in 1972. Lee moved to Hawaii three years later and in 1982, he met Prenda Velasco playing volleyball for her father’s club team, Lokahi Volleyball Club, where they became teammates. Lee played volleyball and rugby along with many other sports. On February 1, 1987, Lee and Prenda tied the knot in Las Vegas after a volleyball tournament. 

Lee and Prenda lived in California where they continued to grow their family. In 1990 they packed their belongings and moved to West Valley City, Utah where Lee was an avid high school and club volleyball coach. After 12 years spent in the West Valley area, Lee and Prenda packed up their family and moved to Aurora, Colorado in 2002. Once all the children had graduated and moved out of the house, they returned to Utah in 2010. Lee remained in the area for the remainder of his days. He was preceded in death by his parents Soona FoaFoa Moea‘i Tataipu and Mika Moe, Sr., many of his siblings, and his granddaughter Kiele Leichleiter-Moe.  

He is survived by his wife Prenda (Velasco) Moe, siblings Patisepa Sa'au, Aiesi Frazier, Sione Tataipu, his children Hale-Lani (Sione) Maile, Apollo (Jennifer) Ysabel, Lorraine Pelekai, Tishalynn (Jarome) Hookano-Pelekai Reed, Lea Moe, Dr. Lucas Moe, Marcus (Audra) Moe, grandchildren Kaleanani (Jray) Galeai, Sione Jr. (Sulia) Maile, Ofa (EJ) Reives, Edler Fofoa Maile, Elder 'Apinetai Maile, La‘akea Maile, Prenda Maile, Ysabel Maile, Kamalei Maile, Kiana Maile, Austyn Ysabel, Jayvier Ysabel, Kahealani Ysabel, Adrian Ysabel, Hokulani Ysabel, Johnson-Kuha‘o Hookano-Pelekai, Faith Hookano-Pelekai Reed, David-Kuamu Hookano-Pelekai Reed, Hope Hookano-Pelekai Reed, Kai Leichleiter-Moe, Kehlani Leichleiter-Moe, and great-grandchildren Zariyah Reives, Koa-lelei Maile, Hale-Lani Maile, and a great-grandson due in October.

The funeral services will be held at the Vaiola Ward Chapel, 55 East 350 North, North Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 7, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. for the Family Service and 11:00 a.m. for the Bishop service. 

A burial service will be held immediately following at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
