Lex Steele — loving brother, devoted husband, and true friend — passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2013.
Born in Salt Lake City on July 26, 1970, Lex was the second son of Lindsay Steele and Lois Marchant Steele. From a young age, his caring and pleasant nature was apparent to all.
In high school Lex found his passion: the computer. He studied this area intently. He also joined the Utah National Guard and played drum in the Delta High Band, graduating in 1989.
Lex served an LDS mission in Baton Rouge. His heart went out to the people there. Some say he returned from Louisiana with Creole in his veins.
While attending Utah Valley Community College, Lex met Kimberly Fogg, the true love of his life. They married and moved into an apartment so small that a person could hardly turn around. They were happy. The couple moved from Provo to Salt Lake City for his work with computers. Later, they bought a home in Bountiful, where they have since lived.
Lex was like a kid himself with his nieces and nephews. He was vibrant and playful in their presence – wrestling, video games, fireworks, puzzles and more. With grownups he was a fierce competitor in card games and board games. He played to win – and he usually did.
Lex’s friends and relatives will deeply miss his infectious laugh, comforting hug, loving smile, and unending compassion for others.
He is survived by his wife Kimberly Fogg Steele of Bountiful; father Linsday Steele of Delta; brother Luke (Elizabeth) of Taylorsville; brother Lance (Moni) of Stansbury Park; sister Leilani Jones (Trent) of San Tan Valley, Arizona; and brother Lee (Carla) of Mesa, Arizona. Lex is preceded in death by his mother Lois.
