Liesel Marie Barber

June 27, 2017 — August 1, 2017

Liesel Marie Zimmermann Barber, 41, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at University of Utah Medical Center of injuries received from a fall over the Davis Creek Trail waterfall.

She was born June 22, 1976 at Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Gerd and Mary Jane Zimmermann.  She spent her childhood years in Clark, ID where her dimpled smile, braids and sweet disposition were easily recognizable.  Her family moved to West Bountiful and then to Centerville, UT, where she spent her teenage years with a wonderful group of life-long friends.  She married Jay W. Barber August 13, 1998 in Layton, UT.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Bountiful LDS Temple.

In her younger years, she was employed at Carr Stationary and at Granny Goose Snacks.  She was a store manager and sales associate at Wilsons Paint and Floor Coverings in Kaysville, UT at the time of her death.  She had a beautiful singing voice and was a member of the ward choir. She and her husband were avid gardeners, and the fruits, vegetables, and beautiful flowers from their garden were shared with family, friends and neighbors.  She made her home a peaceful place and a haven for all who entered. She loved people, and she had an accepting and loving nature.  Her last gift of love was a donation of her body’s vital organs that others might live, and hospital  personnel  reported the day of her death,  four lives  were  saved because of her gift.

She is survived by her husband, Jay Barber; their son, Cody Barber; stepsons, Brandon and Brauc Barber; stepdaughter, Taylor Cordovil (Gui); parents; Gerd and Mary Jane Zimmermann and Phil and Sally Barber; brothers and sisters, Heidi Hood (Byron), Julie Anderson (Robert), Christopher Zimmermann (Baerbel), Steven Zimmermann (Chelsea), Geri Eggett, Jeff Barber, John Barber (Camille), Jim Barber (Aimee), Justin Barber (Joann), Joe Barber (Liz);  grandson, Alexander Cordovil; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Farmington 6th Ward Chapel located at 79 South 1525 West in Farmington.  Family will receive friends at a viewing Tuesday evening, August 8, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary located at 295 North Main Street in Bountiful, and from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church,  prior to funeral services on Wednesday.  Interment will be at the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful, UT.
