Linda Louise Coulter Hirst, longtime resident of Farmington Utah, age 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Life Care Center in Bountiful, Utah. She was born October 11, 1946 to Marvin Jay and Dorothy Bailey (Maxfield) Coulter in Salt Lake City, Utah and was the oldest of 3 children.
As a teenager, she was accomplished at playing the accordion, performing solos, duets, and with groups. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1964. She then worked at the public library in Midvale as a page. She attended the University of Utah, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She taught elementary school full time for many years, and then later as a substitute, before she retired she taught gifted and talented classes at various schools in Davis County (Washington Elementary).
Linda married Stephen Randall Hirst on March 14, 1969; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They have four children, Randall Jay, Sarah Jane, James Wylie, and Jeffrey Elliot, six grandchildren, Katelynn Hirst, Kiley Hirst, Alyssa Hirst, Graclyn Hirst, Lyla Vogel, Samantha Rodriguez, one great-grandson Bentlee Switzer, with another great-grandson on the way.
Linda enjoyed camping with family, family history, sewing, riding motorcycles, traveling on summer vacations in classic cars with family and friends. Linda served in many positions in her Farmington Ward, including Ward Librarian, Cub Scout Den Leader, and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for her neighborhood.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother Melvin Ellis Coulter, and son Jeffrey Elliot Hirst. Surviving family include husband Stephen, children, grandchildren, great grandchild and Sister Carleen Jane Dean.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Life Care Center Bountiful, the Farmington 19th Ward Relief Society for their loving and compassionate service as well as the Bountiful Relief Society Branch at Life Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at the Farmington South Stake Center, 695 South 200 East, Farmington UT 84025 on Friday, October 12, 2018 1:00 PM, with a viewing prior to the funeral 11:30am-12:45pm.
