Linda Joan Simons

October 2, 1942 — January 12, 2025

Linda Joan Simons completed her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and peacefully returned to her heavenly home on January 12, 2025. Joan was born on October 2, 1942, to William and Virginia Mann. She was a joyful and popular child who loved dancing.Joan graduated from Bountiful High School in 1960. She married her high school sweetheart, David Fred "Butch" Simons on December 29, 1961, embarking on a life full of adventure. Joan embraced the challenges and joys of traveling the world as Dave served in the military and furthered his education, often finding herself in new and unfamiliar places but always creating a warm and loving home.

Above all, Joan's greatest joy was being a mother, a role she cherished deeply. Raising six children, she dedicated herself to staying home with them, even starting a daycare or preschool in her home when needed, wherever life took them. As her children grew older, Joan took a position at Washington Elementary School, where she wore many hats, and ultimately became the beloved school librarian. Joan's love of books and learning left a lasting impact on her own children and the many students she affectionately called her "Washington kids."

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joan served in various callings, with her favorites being Primary Chorister and her role in the Bountiful Temple. She had a gift for making others feel loved, valued, and joyful, inspiring her family and everyone blessed to know her.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents William and Virginia, her beloved husband Dave, her sister Patricia, and her grandson Xaiden. She is survived by her six children: Martin and Linda Simons, David and Mandy Simons, Sean and Nicole Simons, Lindsay and Jack Mattes, Whitney and Ryan Johnson, and Mackenzie and Robert Ertmann; her 28 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Sharon Steed and Julie Mann; and her brother, Bill Mann.
