Lionel Brown

June 28, 1944 — October 31, 2013

Biography

Lionel Peter Brown passed away on October 31, 2013 due to complications from diabetes. He was born on June 28, 1944 in Bountiful, the sixth of seven children born to Elden and Afton Brown. Lionel’s father died when he was four years old, so he learned to work hard at a very young age helping his mother on the family farm. He married Mary Jean Dye in 1964, and together they raised nine children. He lived in many places including Elko, NV, Tooele, Park Valley, Cottonwood Heights, and most recently Bountiful, UT. He made his living as a farmer, well-driller, meat cutter, owner-operator truck driver, and property manager. He was known as someone who could work a shovel like no other. He was known for his unquestionable integrity, and his friends and business partners remember him for his honesty and direct approach. He loved his family more than anything else, but also enjoyed watching Westerns, eating at Chuck-A-Rama, and buying “good deals” in large quantities. On one occasion, he bought out an entire yard sale!
He is survived by Mary, his devoted wife of 49 years, his children and their spouses, Sandra, Bryan (Julie), Brandon (Margaret), Lynelle (Neal), Jerrod (Melissa), Janiece (Joel), Gina (Jason), Jordan, and Lance; 28 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, also his siblings: Derral, Verla, David, JoAn, Annabelle, and Vern.
Funeral services will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 295 N Main St in Bountiful on November 4th at 11 AM, burial to follow at the Bountiful City Cemetery. There will be no public viewing as per his request.
