Logan Paul Ellis, 69, passed away April 23, 2021 at his home in Centerville, Utah. Logan was born February 10, 1952 in Pocatello, Idaho.
Logan was a natural born leader who was respected and loved by everyone he came in contact with. He was patient and kind, always putting everyone else before himself. His selfless demeanor and ability to listen to others made him our humble quiet giant. Growing up, Logan excelled in many sports, including basketball. He led the Pocatello High basketball team to the 1969 State Championship.
He married his wife, Darla, in 1974 at the Idaho Falls Temple. Logan received his Mortuary Science degree in Gresham, Oregon and continued to work in the funeral industry for 44 years. He kept his license active until the time of his death. Logan and Darla made their home in Centerville, Utah where Logan worked for Batesville Casket Company. He was an accomplished sales representative, instantly gaining respect and winning numerous sales awards throughout his career. He was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many leadership callings, including Bishop and Stake President. He enjoyed serving in the Church, and especially loved teaching the gospel to children and adults. He was also elected as President of the Utah Funeral Director Association. He was very honored to be given a national service award. The ceremony was to be held the week after his death.
Logan loved gardening, reading, and golf. He enjoyed history, travel, camping, and jumping in the lake at McCall where his extended family would gather as much as possible. But mostly he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a lifelong fan of the Beatles and could recite any lyrics or answer any trivia. He had great respect for history and especially Abraham Lincoln.
