Lois Beverly Bowden Thacker

February 21, 1937 — June 15, 2018

Lois Beverly Bowden Thacker passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 15, 2018 after a long battle with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. She was born in Midway, Utah, the 3rd child of Irvin O. and Lavaun Alder Bowden. Beverly graduated from Wasatch High School and LDS Seminary in 1955. She married her high school sweetheart, Roy Thacker, September 28, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Beverly was artistic and loved painting and flower arranging. She entered many flower arrangements at the Wasatch County Fair and won numerous awards. She worked for 23 years as a houseware buyer for Ace Hardware. She loved genealogy work and spent many hours searching for her ancestors. She enjoyed being a mother and homemaker. Her family spent summers on the Diamond Bar X Ranch in Woodland, Utah where she taught them all the value of hard work. She was also well known for having great barn parties. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren in all of their activities, especially rodeos. Her primary residence was in Bountiful, Utah, but Roy and Beverly bought her childhood home in Midway, Utah where their children and grandchildren spent a lot of time with them and learned to share their love for the Heber Valley. Beverly was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings such as Relief Society President and Cub Scout Leader. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and shared it by the way she lived.
She is the mother of 5 children: Lynn (Donna) Thacker, Kevin (Merilee) Thacker, Brad (Jan) Thacker, Shane (Kaylyn) Thacker and SueAnn (Brian) Urry. She has 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Beverly is survived by her husband, children, and sisters: Barbara Davis, Joyce Clegg and Sharon Emery. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Norman Bowden; sister, Ranae Engberg; granddaughter, Cherish Thacker; great-grandson, Bronson Thacker; and great-granddaughter, Grace Thacker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Bountiful 19th Ward Building, 1540 North 400 East, Bountiful.
