Lois Jessie Reeves Pettersson, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022 due to natural causes. Lois was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 3, 1926 to Frederick Clarence Reeves and Lorena Adams. She attended Jefferson Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High and graduated from South High School in 1943. She married her sweetheart Thomas Livsey Pettersson on November 20, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple and they were happy together for 47 years. They were blessed with 5 sons and 1 daughter.
She worked for Graybar Electric and later as a teacher’s aide for the Salt Lake City school district. She loved teaching and working with children and they all loved her back. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for over 50 years and was very proud of her membership and pioneer ancestry.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities. Lois and Tom spent many years in the Boy Scouts of America. She made life-long friends of her neighbors and loved visiting and chatting with them.
Above all, Lois loved her family and their happiness was always her greatest desire. She took great pride in their accomplishments and lived for their visits.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her parents, grandson Jesse, and sibling’s; Robert, Dorothy, Winifred, Douglas, and Paul. She is survived by her brother Delbert, 6 children, James (Laura), Sharon (Deloy) Merrill, Charles (Laurel), Richard, Fred (Launi) and Alan (Magda) as well as 22 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful, Utah and from 9:45-10:45 am on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the Riverside Stake Center 1148 West 500 North, Salt Lake City, Utah. The funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the Riverside Stake Center. Interment will follow the service at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
