Lois Gene Mangum Bernard passed away at home on Sunday, December 19th, 2010, surrounded by her loving husband and three of her four living children. Lois was born on August 28th, 1928 in Rexburg, Idaho, the third daughter of Milton Mangum and Vera Thomson. Lived in Logan, Utah; Columbia Missouri; Washington D.C. and many other places. She married Anthony Lee Bernard on September 3, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to Bountiful in 1957, where she remained for the rest of her life. Lois is preceded in death by her son Milton and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Tony, sisters, Marjorie Madsen, Adele Putnam, brother, John Harvey Mangum. Children: Edith Stephenson(Jon), Nannette, Paul(Irene Ota), Russell(Julie), Miltons widow (Annette), 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Lois was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings and member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Family history, genealogy and her family were her main passions. She was an avid journal writer and also loved flower gardening, cake decorating, candy making, crocheting and counted cross-stitch. Along with Tony, Nan, Russ and Paul, she was involved with the day to day details of the family business – Quality Stamp and Sign in Salt Lake City. She worked with the family until October when her illness forced her retirement. The family expresses deep appreciation to Lakeview Hospital, Avalon Care Center and finally Harmony Home Care and Hospice who made it possible for Mom to spend her last days in the home she dearly loved, and to friends, family and neighbors who expressed their love for Lois at the end. Funeral Services will be held at the Bountiful 45th Ward chapel, 115 Wicker Lane (1900 South Orchard Drive) on Wednesday, December 29 at 11:00am, where a viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8pm and Weds. 9:45-10:45 prior to the services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
