Lola Priebe Wilson

Lola Grace Wilson, age 86, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007, at her home in Kaysville, Utah, of complications incident to breast cancer. She was born August 23, 1920 in Chamberlain, South Dakota, to Edward Priebe and Olga Ketelhut Priebe. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church located in Ola, Brule County, South Dakota. She grew up on the farm and attended school there with her many friends. After graduating high school, she attended Black Hills Teacher?s College in Spearfish, S.D., where she lettered in softball. After graduating in 1939, she taught grades 1-8 in a one-room schoolhouse near her home. During WWII she went to California with her sister and worked as a typist for the Department of the Navy, rising to the level of typing pool supervisor. There at a big band dance in Long Beach, she met T.H. ?Bill? Wilson. They were married in Westminster, California on September 25, 1948.Bill and Lola started their family life in southern Idaho, moving with Bill?s work, and rearing 6 children. Tragically, in 1961, their youngest son, Jay was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident. In 1966 they moved to Centerville, Utah where she lived for the next 37 years. Bill passed away on June 29, 1999. In 2003, Lola bought her current home in Kaysville, Utah. She loved to do needlework, gardening, cooking , and to work crossword puzzles. She volunteered for Traveler?s Aid at the Salt Lake City airport for 20 years, a job she dearly loved. She was an avid Utah Jazz fan, and never missed a game on the TV or radio. Mom was never idle, always working on one project or another. Every day she kept in touch with friends, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren always looked forward to receiving her thoughtful Christmas and birthday gifts. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Kenneth, her sister Pearl Parriott, her husband Bill, and her son Jay. She is survived by her children, Kurt Linda Wilson, Craig Sandra Wilson, Scott Elaine Wilson, Kevin Kathy Wilson, and Suzanne Michael Lantz, 25 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Dr. Regina Klein and her staff at the Utah Cancer Specialists clinic for the special way she was treated through her illness, and the kind staff at VistaCare hospice, especially Marie, Brandy and Cynthia. If any would care to send donations, they can be sent in Lola?s name to either Traveler?s Aid International, or the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 1:00 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main St. in Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may call for a viewing on Friday evening, February 2, 2007 between 6:00-8:00 pm, or from 11:45 am-12:45 pm prior to services at Russon Brothers Mortuary. Interment will be at the Centerville, Utah City Cemetery.
