Lon Ray Holbrook

January 11, 1952 — January 5, 2017

Centerville, Utah. Lon Ray Holbrook – 64 passed through the veil Jan. 5, 2017 in Bountiful Utah with his loving family by his side. Lon was born Jan. 11, 1952 to Calvin J. Holbrook and Shirley Sheppick. He grew up in Centerville. When he was 17 he joined the Army just like his big brother Kim. They were both serving in Germany when Kim was killed. He served as escort to bring his big brother home. He finished his time at the Tooele and Dugway Army Bases here in Utah. He married Lori Ann Lortsher on Aug. 30, 1971. They had a son Calvin Richard. Later divorced. In 1973 he was in a car accident that left him a quadriplegic. He was blessed to have loving parents that took care of him in their home for 44 years. The three of them were snow birds in Yuma Arizona for 19 years. He enjoyed a good game of Chess and all kinds of music and the great outdoors.

He was an inspiration to all that knew him. He was kind, giving and forgiving with the sweetest spirit you will ever want to meet. His kind blue eyes and smile would light a room. He never complained and neither did his parents. He loved his family especially his nieces and nephews, Nate & Amanda Ellis, Lance Ellis, Jeff & Tally Ellis, Shana & Boyd Jorgenson. Also his great nieces and nephews, Tayana, Hope,William, Emmaleigh, Elijah and Briella. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. He loved working with  the young men and they loved him. He also enjoyed home teaching and attending the temple. He had a testimony of the atonement and loved his Savior.

Lon is survived by his dad and two sisters, Calene Ellis (Brad), Tana Hamblin (Jim), and his nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mom, brother Kim, sister Berniece, son Calvin Richard, nephew Kai Jorgensen and grandparents, aunts & uncles and cousins. What a reunion they are having!

The family would like to thank CNS for the years of care they have given to Lon. Also the staff at Lakeview Hospital.
