Lonny was born after much tribulation and concern to John Gaylord and Gayla Bateman Bell on December 23, 1977. He was so tiny (under 5 pounds) that he had to be in the infant ICU because of fears of lung development problems. They told us they couldn’t let him go home until he was at least 5 pounds. Miraculously, by Christmas day he was just barely 5 pounds and they put him in a Christmas stocking and sent us home. We were so poor we didn’t even have a Christmas tree and when we got home we found a little one on our porch. The only present under our tree was this miracle boy.
The early and untimely end to Lonny’s earthly journey came on September 25, 2017. He was preceded in death by his sister, Megan; his mother Gayla; his grandmother Georgie Gay Bateman; his grandfather Ted Bateman; his grandmother Annette Bell; and his angelic brother, Christopher, who passed just 5 months ago. What a joyful reunion must be taking place!
He is survived by his father and step mom, John and Debbie Bell; his grandfather, Harry John Bell; siblings, John Benjamin, David Wadsworth (Kimberlee), Ryan Brandt, Richard Lind (Kassidy), Heidi Anne (Rico), and Nicholas Hans and beloved cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Thanks to the families that “adopted” him as one of their own over the years.
Lonny lived life. Lonny loved life. Life loved Lonny. He was at his best when everyone was laughing and enjoying the moment. Our world is a little less joyful but the angels are probably holding their sides in laughter.
A memorial service in his honor will be held at 10:00 am, on October 7, 2017 at the LDS Chapel located at 79 South 1525 West, Farmington UT. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Lonny’s name. Lonny set the example by donating his eyes so two others might see.
There are so many things to say about Lonny and we hope his friends (which means everyone who ever met him) and family will share memories and experiences here and on the Lonny Bell Memorial Facebook page.
