Loren Deane Hennick passed away peacefully on January 16, 2019 with his wife and daughter by his side. We are deeply grateful for the loving care he received from the Staff at St. Joseph's Villa and the Doctors with the University of Utah, Health Geriatric Clinic and Dr. King Udall.
Loren was born in Long Beach, California to Evelyn Leishman and Charles Hennick.
He was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with a strong testimony in his Savior Jesus Christ. Loren loved preaching the gospel. At the time of his death, he made it well known that he desired all to know of the gospel. Preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ was his life ministry.
Loren loved serving in several capacities for the Church and spent his life serving others. He was a Stake Seventy in the Cottonwood Stake. He served faithfully as a Bishop for the University Young Married Students at the Nibley Park Ward. He was a true discipline of Christ as he served for the VAMC Branch for 12 years. He dedicated 3,860 hours in this holy calling. He loved all his friends with the Bonneville Ward, Stake, and VA Branch and held them dear to his heart during the time of his illness and death.
Loren loved genealogy work and served countless hours with his wife and brother in searching out his ancestors. His love for genealogy has made an everlasting impact on his family. At the time of his illness, he was diligently working on family history. Thank you to his wife and brother for their support of Loren's motivation to keep living and fighting the good fight here on earth and for those above.
Loren was a passionate educator for 33 years and had great enthusiasm for this work and his many students. He loved teaching in unconventional ways. He taught his students how to love themselves and others. He strived to teach them ways to build their characters with meaning and purpose. He passed on his love for journal writing to his students.
Loren was an avid deep sea fisherman. He spent countless hours on the ocean. Loren loved fishing. He also found opportunities to teach the gospel in calling others to be "fishers of men." He passed on his love for deep sea fishing to his posterity.
Loren's family was the joy of his life. Family was central to his heart, mind and soul. He loved to tell stories of his beloved grandparents and found joy in many of his life memories.
Loren is survived by his wife, Anette; children, Connie, Deane, Emogene (Bruce), Newel (Sjondel) and his mother, Evelyn, brother Daryl (Margo) and step-brother, Robert.
